Carousel
This has a lot in common with a Pyramid, but works just as well with Always cards. The content is divided into tiers. The first tier (say, 6 cards) all unlock together. Playing these cards raises a timing quality. When the timing quality gets high enough, the first tier content locks, and the second tier content unlocks (say, another 6 cards). Repeat for however many tiers you want to create. The last tier is special, though. Any option in the last tier resets the timing quality to zero. So, the player can only play one of the final tier options on each go through the carousel. This is a popular pattern, and we’d recommend it. It works especially well for fiction where a cycle repeats - such as a University term or the turning of the seasons.
